You are still here. Others have died inside at this point, but you still have your wits about you. The colors of your dream are still vibrant whereas others have faded away. You’re still working like all you want can happen tomorrow; you’re still pursuing your vision with integrity even though the work’s been beyond difficult. Why? You know why. Write about it.
You refuse to look back. They can’t relate to who you are now and your focus is on the glimpse you caught of yourself way down the road. People say you’re crazy for going on a glimpse, but you took the leap to never be the same. How does it feel? Write about it.
No, you’re not like your family. You’ve never felt like you have to turn out like the people with whom you share DNA. You want something that lies outside of biological confines; something that will set you apart–not because you don’t love your family–but because you’re meant to create a new ancestry. How has the mental separation been on your soul? Write about it.
Fear’s a bitch. It sneaks up on you and tries to lock you in circumstances you know very well you don’t belong. It tells you lie like how you’re weak and how you’ve made it this far only by sheer luck but will not make it any further. It has you making unnecessary preparations for outcomes meant for those who live in its culture. It makes you overthink and react instead of respond with the sensibility you know you have. Oh, but you’re onto fear’s tactics and you’re facing it head-on. What do you have to say? Write about that.
Others are going to want to know about where you are. You’re not going through this just to say to yourself that you survived. Oh no, you’re in this to literally make a difference in others’ lives. Yes, MAKE it. With your own two hands. With your mindset of forward movement and resilience and all you’ve learned from the journey sofar. What do you need to remember most to tell people about this space? You can’t go through it and forget what it looks like–someone will need you to give directions one day. What will you tell them? Write it down.
Speaking of mindset…What mindsets have you had to free yourself from so that you can embrace the new? What has the process of mind renewal looked like for you? It’s so necessary and there is no instruction manual for how to do it or how the process will look. You know that things are changing and you know that your mind has to change against the grain of struggle and circumstance so that you can emerge refined and victorious and stronger. Who have you had to separate from to protect this nascent mind you’re curating? What have you had to drop, refuse, renovate, or rip away from so that you can achieve metamorphosis of mind, soul, body, and spirit? It’s been hard, I know… but you can’t have a change of scenery without a change of mind, even if it costs you everything you once called “home”. What’s been the cost of your mental shift? Write about that. ❤️
