We yearn to be loved, to be held in the embrace of another’s affection. But when love eludes us, we seek admiration, a glimmer of recognition that we are worthy and valued. And when admiration fails, we are left with fear, a trembling of the soul before the emptiness of isolation.
Desperate for connection, we seek to evoke some sort of emotion in others, to stir the depths of their being and feel the warmth of their response. For the soul cannot bear the coldness of isolation, the barrenness of a world devoid of human touch.
But when even this fails, when we are met with indifference or rejection, we are left with a void that threatens to consume us. And in our desperation, we turn to hate and despise, lashing out at the world that has failed to see our worth, our beauty, our humanity.
For the soul trembles before emptiness, and it needs contact at all costs. It longs for the warmth of human touch, the tenderness of affection, the connection that binds us all. And when it is denied this, it withers, aching for the love that it so desperately craves.
Let us strive to be the love that others seek, the admiration that uplifts, the understanding that soothes the fears of the soul. Let us be the contact that the heart longs for, the embrace that banishes the emptiness, the connection that binds us all together in a tapestry of humanity.
