Each year, on November 20, Brazil celebrates Black Awareness Day, a poignant reminder of the black community’s immense worth and their invaluable contributions to the nation’s fabric.
I found my roots.
In the worn pages of old files and books, I unearthed the stories that built my heritage. Among cursed objects, trunks, and chains, I discovered the painful legacies of my ancestors.
I found my roots in the East, aboard the filthy slave ships that scarred the seas. Amidst the sweet words of songs and the furious rhythms of drums, I connected with the rites that have been passed down through generations.
The color of my skin became a testament to my identity, the gashes in my soul a reminder of the struggles endured. In me, and in my dark-skinned kin, I saw the pride and resilience of my heroes.
I found my roots. And in finding them, I finally found myself. šš¾ā¤ļøš§š·
