The House with All Its Lights On

My age stays awake like a solitary house with all its lights blazing against the heavy, anonymous night, while it waits—patiently, almost anxiously—for other unfamiliar lights to drift in from the outside world. It is a restless, breathing entity that thinks, studies, researches, and loves with a fierce, quiet intensity. It is an age that suddenly decides, with a strange and sudden gravity, to fight for noble causes that belong to everyone and no one, while gently sheltering the quiet, trembling humility of who I truly am. ❤️ © Beatriz Esmer Continue reading The House with All Its Lights On

O Toque

Continue reading O Toque

The Inside and the Word

What a strange language this is that I use to forget myself. There are days when not even all the caffeine in the world is enough for me. I write to whoever may read, as if the words could find an unknown recipient, someone who understands what even I cannot decipher. This is the act of letting it out, but where is the inside? The inside is a noisy silence, a pre-art, a space full of pre-things waiting to be named. It is an organized chaos, a universe in potential, waiting to be discovered. The inside is what I invented, … Continue reading The Inside and the Word

A Verdade

Continue reading A Verdade

Incomoda-lo profundamente o Bolsa Família, o SAMU, o Gás do Provisório, o ProUni, o Farmácia Popular e a expansão das universidades.

O tamanho do amor

Alguma pendência a desatar? Algo a mudar, transformar, manifestar, despertar, curar? Continue reading O tamanho do amor

The Epitaph of Departure

She left to look for her peace and never returned—not because she found it, but because she hadn’t yet seen it, nor felt it, nor smiled. She only cried. And after so much killing, so much crying, and so much suffering, she decided to die. To die without peace. To die in anguish, without knowing how to die. Without knowing how to save; without knowing how to be born. She blamed the seed that failed to sprout; the sun that refused to rise; the heart that skipped its beat; the bad luck she had chosen; the bitter taste of her … Continue reading The Epitaph of Departure

Rainy Days

It’s one of those beautiful rainy days when the entire house seems to echo with the force of the sky’s frustration. The raindrops are falling like uncertain poems written by shaky fingers tap tap tapping on ancient typewriters. The windows are fogged and my feet are cold but there’s music in the air and there’s the warmth of coffee and candles that keeps me alive. Today I painted my eyes with dark kajal. Today I folded myself into vanilla raspberry sheets. Today the church bells still ring loud and true with an unfaltering rhythm. Last night I couldn’t sleep too … Continue reading Rainy Days

Where Time Has No Home

I long to live in someone’s memory, to leave a footprint on the fragile glass of another soul’s duration. And yet, what is memory after all? A ghost that haunts a hallway, a breath misting on a cold window before it vanishes entirely. I long to live upon a hill, high and exposed to the fierce, indifferent wind, where the sky feels vast enough to swallow the quiet terror of existing. And it doesn’t matter that I know I never will, because the longing itself is already a form of possession, a sharp and burning ache that proves I am … Continue reading Where Time Has No Home
